GENERAL INFORMATION 

  

KWGA yearly dues of $55.00 are billed directly by The Clubs of Kingwood.  The billing date will be December 31, due on January 31. No dues will be refunded after the due date.  Any member who resigns and wishes to rejoin will pay the $55.00 yearly fee.  Anyone who joins on or after October 1 will pay $28.00.  In addition, a fee will be billed for maintaining handicaps.

After signing up, the Membership Chair will call each new member and explain the playday procedures and review the handicap status.  

  

HANDICAP PROCEDURES

Handicaps are computed according to the uniform system as recommended by the USGA.

KWGA Handicap Limits:      18-Hole League           40

                                               9- Hole League          25

                                                       

HANDICAP INDEX  

In order to join KWGA, members must have an established GHIN Handicap. To establish a handicap, contact the Pro Shop to set up a GHIN number and record a minimum of three 18-Hole scores or six 9-Hole scores.   Brand new golfers to the sport will want to contact Player Development Pros at The Clubs of Kingwood to learn the fundamentals and etiquette of the sport and be recommended by the Pro before joining KWGA. 

 

FLIGHTS 

The 18-Hole & 9-Hole leagues are flighted with an equal number of active players for Year-End Awards competition.  Additional information can be found on the KWGA18 and KWGA9 Golf Genius member portals. A player’s flight is determined based upon which flight a player was in for the majority of the year.

 

 RINGERED PLAYDAYS/  RINGERS

Playdays designated as a Ringered Playday means that days’ score will be tracked for determination of Year–End Awards. Ringers are the best gross score players have on each hole during the season. Course Gross and Net scores, Birdies, Putts and Course Credits are also tracked on Ringered Playdays.

 

VALID PLAYDAYS & TOURNAMENTS /  STIPULATED ROUNDS

Playdays and tournaments will be deemed valid if 8 or more players for the 18-Hole League play a stipulated round that day on the same designated course. The 9-Hole League must have 4 or more players finish their stipulated round. Saturday players must have 2 or more 18-Hole League or 2 or more 9-Hole League eligible players finish their stipulated round.   

 

A stipulated round is 18 holes for the 18-Hole League or 9 holes for the 9-Hole League and it must be played for a player to receive KWGA course credit, Ringer scores, and event winnings.  KWGA will upload those scores to GHIN. 

 

If a stipulated round is not played, KWGA will not upload the scores to GHIN. In this circumstance, the player is responsible for keeping their own scorecard and to input their score to GHIN for handicap credit. Beginning in 2024, for a 9-hole score to be acceptable for USGA handicap purposes, all 9 holes must be played and when 10-17 holes are played, the player must post their score using the hole-by-hole score posting option.

 

SCORECARD PROCEDURES

The Pro Shop will provide printed scorecards for all playdays and tournaments.  These scorecards are the official record of your round.  Tally each line such as gross score and putts, then subtract your course handicap.  After play, both the Competitor and Marker must sign the scorecard.   

 

As a group, the Competitors must also confirm their scorecard matches the e-score recorded in Golf Genius. 

 

Turn in scorecards for the stipulated round as well as any withdrawn (W/D) scorecards to the designated spot after play.  All Playday scorecards must be turned in regardless of whether the Competitor finished the round.   

 

In the event that printed score cards are not provided, KWGA requests that the competitor indicates on a Clubs of Kingwood course scorecard:  Legible Name, each hole gross score, each hole putts, total gross score, handicap (for the course). 

 

GOLF GENIUS 

The KWGA has adopted Golf Genius to e-score weekly playdays and tournaments.  Golf Genius tracks course credits, Ringers and birdies.  Stipulated scores are uploaded to GHIN.  Playday results are posted on the KWGA Golf Genius portal.  Note:  Playday scorecards remain the official record of scores and Golf Genius is used in addition to playday scorecards.   

 

If a player is considered withdrawn (W/D), scoring should STOP on both paper and Golf Genius.  LEAVE BOTH SCORECARD AND GOLF GENIUS BLANK! Do not ever enter “X” in Golf Genius. Golf Genius will provide a pop-up message that notifies the scorer that not all scores have been entered. Select “Next Hole: or “Continue” for each hole thereafter.  

 

DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY, RESUMPTION OF PLAY AND CANCELLATION OF PLAY PROCEDURES AS IT APPLIES TO KWGA PLAYDAYS:  

Decisions about Suspension, Resumption and Cancellation of Play will be made by and communicated by the KWGA Committee. The Committee will be the First Vice President & Playday Chair, Fourth Vice President & 9-Hole Chair and the Head Pro.  

 

When play is suspended, usually due to weather, competitors are to return to the clubhouse when it is safe to do so, report to the Committee and await a decision by the Committee as to resume play or if play is cancelled.  Players that choose not to continue playing must turn in their scorecards.

 

If play is suspended and then cancelled before everyone has completed a stipulated round, then the Playday is cancelled and no KWGA course credit, ringers or event winnings will be awarded.

              

There is no hard-and-fast rule as to when to cancel a round.  The proper action depends on the circumstances in each case and the KWGA Committee will determine when play is cancelled.  If at any time a player determines that they want to discontinue playing for any reason, they are certainly allowed to do so and will be considered as W/D.    

  

SATURDAY PLAYDAY  

Saturday Playdays are designed to allow an opportunity for working women to join and participate in the KWGA.  Any KWGA member may play on a Saturday if space allows (18- & 9-Hole Leagues).  

 

To qualify for KWGA Year-End Awards, there must be two (2) eligible 18-Hole League players or two (2) eligible 9-Hole League players that complete their rounds on Saturday.  Eligible players are defined as players who did not participate in the weekly Playday of that week (includes players who start and W/D).  Saturday playdays typically attract 3-10 players and tee times can vary, but generally are mid-morning.  If interested in being on the distribution for Saturday playday, please contact the Saturday Committee Chair.   

  

 KWGA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES  

The KWGA organization and its events are run by volunteers from the membership.  In addition to the board and committee chairs, many more volunteers are needed throughout the year to support our organization and events (e.g. Member Guest, Pink Tournament, holiday decorating of the club) or club-sponsored events (e.g. Divot Days).  Many times we will ask for volunteers for specific events, however, please don’t hesitate to RAISE YOUR HAND TO PARTICIPATE!  We love volunteers!  Volunteers have fun, meet other members and help the club be successful!!!  When you volunteer, you will earn Volunteer points toward qualifying for the Volunteer Tournament.  

 

VOLUNTEER TOURNAMENT                                               

This tournament is sponsored by COK as a thanks for the support throughout the year to help make the golf associations, course maintenance and outside events continue to run effectively. This is an A-B-C-D flighted event for golf members who have earned three or more volunteer points during the year.  Qualifying members are notified to register for this tournament usually held in 

November or December.  KWGA members may earn volunteer points through volunteering for KWGA or Clubs of Kingwood golf activities.  

 

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

In the interest of expecting fair play and an enjoyable experience at the Club for all, KWGA Members are to conduct themselves in a manner which includes adherence to the rules and etiquette of golf as outlined by United States Golf Association and in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Clubs of Kingwood. Observed violations are to be submitted in writing to the Head Pro describing the incident and players involved or witness to so the matter can be adjudicated. Each situation is unique and considered accordingly, and if action is warranted could include, but is not limited to, warnings or suspension of playing privileges for a defined period.
